Primary research
I conducted primary research by taking photographs of items and textures that I could reference to make a new asset in my three isometric rooms assignment or I could use some pictures as texture.
I initially walked around Wiltshire college (Trowbridge campus) taking photos of things that piqued my interest, taking pictures of pipes, lights, security cameras etc.
After I went to B & Q and walked around the shop and found an amazing amount of items that I could use as reference/ textures. I have added 25 photographs to the gallery but overall I took over 80 photos for my research.
-
I am going to be adding a holographic clock to one of my isometric rooms.
-
Within my locker system, I am going to add a vent/grating and I thought it would look nice.
-
one of my rooms is going to be a Bio dome greenhouse so I thought I could add a lighting system above plants to add the plant nursery effect.
-
the wood I thought I could use as a texture for benches within the Bio dome.
-
I was going to make one of my rooms a sort of Armoury/Vault room so I thought I could add security cameras inside and outside the room.
-
I could use the BBQ knob to reference into making a twisting dimmer switch.
-
I was thinking of using the carpet as a type of texture maybe for a rug.
-
I was going to make the stone as a path in the Bio dome.
-
The bamboo shoots could be added to the Bio dome as a decorative feature.
-
The rocks and grass could be adapted to the outside of the wall to look like moss on rocks.
-
The wicker could be added to make a wicker wall for a decorative feature.
-
I am going to use the pillar as a reference to make my own pillars for the Armoury/Vault room and potentially Biodome
-
I could use the flowers as a texture to add to the Bio dome or use it as a reference to create my own flower assets.
-
The two-toned carpet can be used as a texture for a carpet/rug.
-
I can use the two metal panels as tiling for floors/walls.
-
I can use this light as a reference to create wall lights.
-
I can use the rubber matting as a texture for flooring.
-
I could use this texture as walls for the Armoury/Vault room
-
I turned the radiator on the side to give me an idea for the grating/vent.
-
I could use the bristles to add a sort of dead grass look to the Bio dome.
-
The Hessian could be used as a texture for plant pot interiors that can overflow slightly.
-
The grating can be used as a flooring texture,
-
the bumps in the wood door can be adapted to add detailing to walls within my isometric rooms.
-
the Plaster texture can me used to add little details to certain items.
-
the lights in this photo can be adapted to make floor lighting within my marine quarters isometric room.
Due to the change of my isometric room, I went out at a later date to do some more primary research and got these pictures from Carpet right and B & Q.
1. A picture I took of some carpet at a distance it kind of looks like static, so I may use it for a tv that has no input on the screen.
2. A nice patterned carpet I think I'll use this for flooring in my third room
3. A wallpaper pattern that I could adapt to make it a lampshade.
4. The wood flooring I could use this as a flooring in my third room.
5. I could use this as the exterior part of my walls.
This is the questionnaire that I conducted in regards to my isometric rooms. I got a lot of positive responses, with ideas to improve my work and suggestions on what I should be taking into account when designing the rooms. overall I am happy with the results of this questionnaire.
